What’s your BMI?

Get to know your BMI

Body mass index (BMI) is a measurement used to classify an adult’s weight as underweight, normal, overweight, or obese. BMI helps to describe a person’s weight relative to his or her height. In most adults, BMI is related to total body fat content.

Knowing your BMI may be important for your acid reflux disease. Why?

Being overweight or obese (BMI ≥25) is a risk factor for GERD symptoms

The risk of reflux symptoms doubles for patients who are overweight (BMI 25 to 30)

The risk triples for patients who are obese (BMI >30 to 35)
